Operating Instruction for solar well pump type LJ10 / LJ20
Congratulations on your purchase of this ecological solar pump. In order to ensure trouble-free operation of the solar pump, the following items must be absolutely observed:
Note on safety:
The solar pump can not be operated directly with battery or 110-230 Voltage AC.
The disregard of this reference means danger to life and damage of the pump !!!
1) Suspended assembly. The solar pump should not be lowered up to the well bottom.

2) Suspend the pump on the metal eyes provided for this purpose only and do not subject the cable to tensile load.

3) Do not use the solar pump for transporting sewage. In the case of a new well, wait until the well water is clear. If the transporting water is not clear (operation in a river or sea), it is strongly recommended to install a filter made of foam material in front of the orifices (O) of the solar pump.

3,1) A bag in the carton, which is made of plant fiber, could be temporary used as a filter.

4) The water hose (W) is already installed to the adapter. You just need to fix the compensation hose (L) with an O-Ring to the pump (Fig. 1). Finally, secure the water hose next to the hanging rope.(Fig. 2)

5) Further, the water-hose should be secured outside of the well, so that the water-hose cannot fall into the well.

5,1) After selecting a place for the solar panel (S), check for its lightning safety, so that the plant is safe when lightning hits.

5,2) If a cord prolongation is necessary between the solar panel and Electro box (E), the distance should not exceed 30 meters. Use a cord, as thick as possible, in order to hold the power loss small.

6) First, combine the cable (K) in correct polarity with the solar panel. Then connect the cable plug (B) to the Electrobox of the solar pump. After connecting the solar pump to the solar panel, one should wait about 10 seconds depending on sunshine until the solar pump starts up. In this case you will hear a distinct cycle. Then the solar pump, including air- and water hose, should be slowly dived into the water. The pump is insensitive to dry run and can dry run for hours without damage, therefor slowly dived in to the water can not danger the pump.

6,1) The electric box is not waterproof, therefore protect it against the penetration of water.

If the solar pump does not function, check accordingly to Item 10, 11,12.

7,10) Only for type LJ10: For operating the solar pump all customary solar panels suitable up to 12 WP (at least. 16,0 V) only (Fig, 3). While operating the pump with a greater solar panel, a special option "Power Limit" is necessary, which will be installed into the electronic box. In this case, please ask your distributor.

7,20) Only for type LJ20: It is the best possible way to run the solar pumps with two connected solar modules, up to 12 Wp (at least 32,0V) (Fig. 4). During the operation with larger solar panels, la special option "power limit" is required, which is easily installed into the Electro box. Please ask your distributor in this case.

8) The solar pump can also be operated via a AC-DC power adapter. It should however be observed in this case that the maximum D.C. voltage of the supply unit does not exceed 16.50 V (33,0V for type LJ20) and the current is limited to 750 mA. In this case the pump has to start with a small solar current of e.g. 50 mA to max. 750 mA.
Installation
Maintenance
9)If the solar pump will not be in water for some time or shall be stored, first it has to be taken out while pumping, that the remaining water in the interior of the pump will be emptied. After this, following treatments are necessary.

10) First, remove the water hose with the compensation hose from the pump. Then it has to dry run for at least 30 min. so that the generated heat dries the inner parts of the pump. Thus will hinder rusting of the pump while it is in storage. The screw (A) on the lower side of the solar pump has to be released with the hexagon (H) wrench being provided and the piston (P) removed along with the piston spring (C). Clean piston by brush, oil slightly and reassemble the piston. Mount the piston spring on the piston first and then reintroduce into with the spring ahead. Test with finger pressure whether the piston moves easily within the pump. Then turn in the screw and tighten by the hexagon wrench. Be careful when cleaning the messing-tube of the pump. Avoid to push too deep and too forceful, otherwise it may can damage the seal valve.
10,1) The inner brass tube of the pump has a specially treated smooth surface. Caution while cleaning the tube. Avoid too deep or too strong pushes with coarse tools, otherwise, it can damage the brass tube or the seal valve.
Use exclusively resin-free oils, no grease or similar lubricants.
Debugging
11) The solar pump is made for continuos function and can run all year. But in case of a defect in the pump-system, it is important to check the solar panel first, to see if it is still providing solar current.

11,1) The electronical parts are protected by a automatic fuse. If overcharging through a bigger solar panel or other power sources occurs, the automatic fuse will stop the current flow. If this is assumed, the cable plug should be disconnected from the Electrobox and the solar panel should be moved into the shade, in order to decrease the solar power. After few minutes, please stick the cable plug back into the Electro-box and start the pump like in pt. 6 again.

11,2) If the pump stops working, choose a sunny day for the repair to insure the functionality of the solar panel. Please open the lid of the Electro box without changing any other connections. There are two light-emitting diodes LED 1 (red) and LED 2 (yellow) (Fig. 5).

a, First check LED 1(red), if LED 1 is

ON = voltage supply of the solar panel is available

OFF = voltage supply of the solar panel is broken.

Solution: Check the connections to the solar panel and the quality of the Panel.

b, Just if LED 1 is "ON", then check LED 2 (yellow): If LED 2 (yellow) is

BLINKING = Elector parts do work, mechanical parts have a problem (for example. piston is jamming).

Solution: proceed as in Point 10 and 12 in the operating instructions

ON but NO BLINKING = cabel connection between Electro box and pumps is interrupted,

OFF = electrical parts are defective (IC or transistor etc.)

Solution : The pump can just be repaired by experts!!!

Otherwise please pull the pump out of the water as fast as possible and return it to the distributor. Because without functioning in the water over several days could develop even more mechanical problems, like the corrosion and depositing of particle, in the pump.

12) If a jamming of the pump happens through rust at the piston, it can be easily solved with a small procedure. Unfix the screw at the downside of the solar pump with the enclosed the hexagon wrench. Push the pump on a robust woodpile strongly down for a few times. (Fig. 6, 7) A rust dissolve would be an advantage if the piston is very rusty.

After dissolution of the piston, please repeat the maintenance after item 10.

13) If the pump still fails to start after checking it according to item 10 and 12, please return the pump as soon as possible to the distributor, where it will be repaired by a specialist. To open the screws at the sides and head of the pump without special knowledge can cause further defects. The warranty expires in such a case.

Should you observe the items characterised by hand, you will enjoy this technical new acquisition over a long period. The solar pump will supply sufficient amount of water at all times, no matter, whether you use it for drinking water supply, water for the garden, weekend house, garden pond or for other purposes.
Specifications and external appearance are subject to change without notice.
